Service jobs always feature memorable characters, but the ex-manager who preferred playlists and cocktails to any actual supervising is in a class of her own. Crews run into this type often. She coasted by with charm and connections, spent her shifts chasing fun, and leaves the job in a fog of rumors. Months later, she pops up in familiar bars, still chasing attention, still tossing out fake greetings that mean nothing.

  • My spouse is a bartender, (working at the same place as I do, same place she did before getting fired.) And one night recently she came and sat at his bar and asked him if he was still with "that girl he was dating" referring to me but not using my name as if I were some random person.

  • They will greet old coworkers with an exaggerated hello and then act like names are completely optional. The best moment comes when someone flips the script and pretends they do not remember her either. The confidence fizzles and all that remains is an awkward pause nobody rushes to fill.

  • (By the way she knows. my name, spent more time around me than him when we all worked there...) Every time shes run into me prior to this she always gives me that fake "Oh hiiiii (my name)." So anyways, this didnt sit well with me and I never forgot it.
